Position Description:

The Business Operations Support Specialist oversees budget formulation and execution of working capital fund budgets, acquisition certification training and procurement actions, manages transit subsidies and parking, space planning, asset management, reviews travel requests, serves as IT liaisons, leads emergency planning efforts, and processes the on/offboarding of personnel and consults with hiring managers with personnel actions. This position is mostly remote, but the candidate must be able to report to the office in Springfield, VA when necessary. We are in the proposal phase. No definitive start date has been determined.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Operational Support: Assist with the day-to-day operations of government programs, ensuring that activities align with organizational goals and meet federal standards.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and work to streamline workflows, contributing to increased efficiency and effectiveness in government operations.
  • Data Management: Collect, analyze, and maintain data related to operations, performance, and program success. Ensure data integrity and accessibility for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Budget Assistance: Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting for various government projects. Ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Policy Compliance: Review and interpret federal policies, ensuring that operational procedures adhere to established government guidelines and regulations.
  • Project Coordination: Support project management teams by providing logistical and administrative assistance to ensure timely project completion.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations for senior management and other stakeholders regarding operational efficiency, budget status, and program performance.
  • Customer Service: Serve as a liaison between government departments and external stakeholders, ensuring communication is clear and efficient.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to other staff members on business operations procedures, systems, and tools.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in business operations, administrative support, or government operations.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of federal regulations, policies, and procedures.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other business management tools.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with federal government procurement processes and contract management.
  • Experience in financial and budgetary management within a government or public sector environment.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
